The conference will be held at the University of Porto’s historic building ((Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, Praça Gomes Teixeira, 4099-002 Porto, Portugal).
It is an imposing rectangular neoclassical building, initially meant to host the Royal Academy of Navy and Trade. The original project was authored by Carlos Amarante in 1807. The construction work advanced rather slowly due to the Peninsular War and the Civil Wars. In 1832-1833, during the siege of Porto, the unfinished building served as a hospital. The project was then redesigned by J. C. Vitória Vila-Nova and it underwent two other major renovations by Gustavo Gonçalves e Sousa, in 1862, and António Araújo e Silva, in 1898.
The building, which has hosted many faculties and academies, currently hosts, in addition to the Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, the museums of Zoology, Geological Sciences, Archaeology and Pre-History.
