Taking as its motto a line from a poem by Andrew Marvell which describes the mind as transcending what it already is or knows to devise utopian otherness – “Far other Worlds, and other Seas” – the conference aims at covering the whole field of Utopian Studies.
The Organizing Committee welcomes paper proposals dealing with all aspects of utopian thought, writing and practices – e.g. literary utopias, utopian ideas or ideals, intentional communities, utopianism in the arts, the theory of utopia, etc.
The deadline for proposals is 31 March 2009. Participants will be notified of acceptance no later than 15 April 2009. When notice is given of the acceptance of papers, participants will receive information on methods of payment.
