Resumo

Com este trabalho, pretende-se equacionar as estratégias de saber e de poder desenvolvidas por grupos de actores sociais cujas formulações discursivas serão socialmente reconhecidas como legítimas e autorizadas (médicos e juristas), confrontando-as não só com as percepções subjectivas das suas práticas quotidianas profissionais, mas também com a apropriação “leiga” das mesmas.

Esta investigação tem como principais objectivos: questionar a permeabilidade das representações e das práticas ditas científicas perante conhecimentos não científicos em torno da sexualidade e, em particular, da reprodução; averiguar os contornos das (re)criações científicas que tornam possível a incorporação e a personificação do progresso tecnológico; reflectir sobre a forma como as novas técnicas e tecnologias no âmbito da reprodução medicamente assistida são subtilmente usadas como instrumentos que (re)produzem a crença no carácter “objectivo”, “neutro” e “miraculoso” do progresso científico e tecnológico, escamoteando as incertezas e as repercussões sociais, éticas, jurídicas e económicas implicadas na “neutralidade” das problemáticas “científicas”.

Abstract

With this work, we intend to question the strategies of knowledge and of power developed by groups of social actors, whose discursive formulations will be socially recognized as legitimate and authorized (doctors and jurists). These strategies will be confronted not only with the subjective perceptions of their daily professional practices, but also with the "lay" appropriation of the same. 

The main aims of this research are: to question the permeability of the alleged scientific representations and practices before nonscientific knowledge of sexuality and, particularly, of reproduction; to inquire into the outlines of the scientific (re)creations which allow the incorporation and the personification of the technological progress; to reflect on the way the new techniques and technologies of the assisted medical reproduction are subtly used as instruments which (re)produce the belief in the "objective", "neutral" and "miraculous" character of the scientific and technological progress, by pilfering the uncertainties and the social, ethical, juridical and economic repercussions, implicated in the "neutrality" of the "scientific" problems.
